Tony Laycock

I began my working life in mechanical engineering working in the steel, chemical and transport industries which took me to Africa. Following a major accident at work I retrained to become a further education teacher and assessor specialising in horticulture, working with a wide range of disadvantaged people. Following redundancy I set up a charity running a workshop refurbishing hand tools to ship to artisans in Africa once again working with disadvantaged people. My wife and I designed and built an award winning eco house which led me to go to the Centre for Alternative Technology where I achieved a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Architecture, Energy and the Environment. I worked as a consultant in these areas of speciality leading me to patent my solar thermal invention called Solarbox which is in the final stages of development. For many years I have refurbished and maintained a wide range of properties incorporating sustainability where possible including educating people along the way.
